CNY Day2 (II)

JX misses drawing with watercolour very much and he has been requesting me to let him draw for quite some time. Finally, his wish was granted when my brother came up with an idea of making a kite during our visit to my mom’s house on the evening of the second day of Chinese New Year. My brother was responsible to make the frame of the kite while the kids were responsible to paint the kite.

JX didn’t really know how to draw so he didn’t participate in painting the kite. He was given a paper to paint on his own. Anyway, he enjoyed the simple lesson provided by my brother on how to use the watercolour more effectively. He was taught on how to hold the brush and wash the brush in between colours. He was very patient and followed my brother’s instruction. After he gained more confidence, he started to explore by himself.

“ Thanks 舅舅 for your great painting lesson. I am now more confident to paint on my own.  Let’s see… I don’t like thick colour so let me rub blue on my paintbrush then wash-wash-wash it in the water. See, my blue is almost transparent on the paper. Next, 舅舅 said that when we mix blue and yellow we make green….I rub blue again, wash it in the water, then rub yellow and wash it in the water as well….舅舅, why is there no green on the paper?”

Later, JX, cousin Shaelyn and Jonelle were all bored with the painting session and they started to play hide-and-seek with my sister.

Our dinner…my parents actually reserved most of the cooking until our visit today. Their reunion dinner was just a very simple one. Thanks you mum and dad. We love you.

After dinner, all kids were fully-recharged. They watched and followed the Chinese New Year music video, sang & danced.

“ I felt so hot after all the dancing, let’s take a bath before I play fire crackers.”

Fire crackers marathon.….

“ I am monstrously hungry after the play. So I pull the plate right in front of me so that I can snap up the biscuits faster….” `
