April Fools’ Day

OK. It’s April Fools’ Day. I knew it since this morning, and I have actually reminded myself since last night. So, what’s so big deal about it? It’s actually fun, isn’t it? After all, laughter is the best medicine. But, what about the person who is always being fooled? Like me.

Yap, I was the one who’s always being fooled on this day. You see, if those words coming out from a serious face with a serious tone, I have to believe it. I am just being nice and not dumb, ain’t I?

This year, I considered myself quite safe as my brother is in PG, my friends and good old colleagues are all in PG. Towards the evening, I started to forget about the whole thing.

At about 6pm, I received a phone call from my good friend, triple-T.

Triple-T: ‘ Hey, Sam, I am on my way back home from work, but I can’t wait to tell you this, I AM PREGNANT!’

She sounded so exhilarated : ‘ I just found out last night after talking to you on the phone. SEE, as I told you I have suspected myself getting pregnant!’

Oh wow, Triple-T is pregnant.

‘Congrats!! I am so happy to hear that’, I replied. Oh, I was so excited , my mind started lingering for the baby shower present.

‘ So, when is your appointment with your gynae?’ I asked seriously.

‘April fool!’ she laughed out loudly.

WHAT??? !!!

At night, I suddenly recalled that I have something to ask my brother. Immediately, I grabbed my hand phone and called him.

He picked up the phone shortly.

Ops, why is the background so noisy? ‘Where are you now?’ I asked my brother.

‘In Vietnam’ He gave a prompt and short reply.

‘In Vietnam??? Don’t bluff, I know today is April Fools’ day.’

‘ Yes, I am in Vietnam’ he answered with a little giggle escaping from him.

Ooo….I was too smart to be fooled for the second time in a row. I pretended to believe it and continue the conversation as usual.

After hanging up the phone, immediately I rang up my mother with the intention of revealing his ‘joke’.

‘Hi mom, is brother watching TV now? Can you please call him?’ I was preparing myself to have a good laugh at my brother.

‘Brother is on business trip in Vietnam right now. Anything?’ Mom replied.

Oh, my GOD! He is indeed in VIETNAM, what about my phone bill….（ToT）

Now you see why I hate April Fools’ Day!
