My baby was sick

For the first time ever, Jing Xuan fell sick last week. It was an usual day until he started crying after his lunch. His cries were abnormal and incessant. I was shocked to find out that his body was warmer than usual. His temperature was already 38.3 degree Celcius. Various method that I’ve tried to comfort him didn’t help. He was cranky and upset while I was anxious and clueless. A bout of vomiting eventually relieved him as I found out that he was actually having indigestion.

He was suspected to be down with viral fever. Therefore, we decided to observe him first before visiting a paediatrician while giving him panadol for symptomatic relief. His temperature was fluctuating within 37.4 - 39.0 degree Celcius for 3 days & nights but luckily he looked fairly active still and able to take in enough fluid. We also did sponging for him when his temperature was very high. Opps! My little boy really hated it & acted crankily especially when a wet cloth was placed on his forehead. (>_<)

I was having sleepless nights, waking to check on him multiple times, even though hubby has reassured me that he would be alright after few days. True enough, his fever spontaneously subsided on the 4th day. However, some flat, pinkish rashes started to appear on his forehead & neck. I was so anxious with these new changes that I continued to wake up several times at night to make sure Jing Xuan was ok. Rashes disappeared by itself 2 days later without requiring any medications.

When Jing Xuan has fully recovered, resuming his routine daily activities, having good appetite, enjoying his playtime, chuckling away, we smiled. The effort & the sleepless nights have really paid off well. *(^O^)*

"Mommy, why do I feel so unwell?"
